M.I.A.

I was just cruising through our posts and noticed a trend.
Scott is missing from the majority of our pictures.
This is not on purpose.
He is still very much a part of our family.
But he is at school a lot, busy stuffing his brain full of medical information.
He is studying to be an eye doctor.
We are proud of him and hope to one day have him around a little more.
And anyway, most of my posts are inconsequential and are usually of us at home doing nothing exciting or of me taking pictures of myself.
See following entry ...

Viola!

I have finally completed a sewing project!
I only do "crafting-type" projects that are quick and require the skill level of a 3-year-old.
This Happy Birthday sign was just such an activity.
I got the idea from a friend, who is an excellent seamstress, and she probably whipped hers out in 15 minutes;
I, however, have been working on it for 3 weeks ... at least.
But I think it turned out great (if you don't look too closely).
I have such a good time making it, I am going to make one with Ezra's name on it and again one for Ryan.
And who knows, maybe I will just get carried away, and before you know it, everything in my house will be labeled.

This is my banner in all it's glory. I even sewed around all the letters even though I used heat 'n bond to adhere them to the backing.

This is what I looked like after finishing. Astonished, maybe confused that I managed to avoid sewing over my fingers or breaking my machine. Chapped lips, nice.

This is how Ezra felt about my project. Not really, he makes this face every time I say "cheese."

My New-ish Clock

Scotty got me this amazing clock for Christmas.
Actually he got me a gift card for the exact amount of the clock.
Same thing.
He knew I would get this.
It is really BIG.
Which is perfect because I love HUGE wall decor.
The bigger the better.
It is over two feet tall.
I tried to take a picture of myself standing next to it (in order to illustrate his size ... yes it is a he).
But I looked like a fool.
Anyway, not that exciting to some, but to me it is definitely big news.
p.s. Aren't the colors great?

Two monsters

Ezzy sleeps with his little orange monster every night/day.
He is a gift from Nanny.
He has 2 ferocious teeth (the monster, not Ezra) which Ezra strokes in order to fall asleep.
It is too cute.

I'm growing out my hair...

Which is a big deal for me.
Definitely blog-worthy.
It is so dang hard.
And it takes so long.
This is the longest it has ever been in my adult life.
We'll see how it goes.

Scott's adventures

This is a family blog.
Having said that, I feel it only appropriate that I document not only my activities with the kids
but Scott's adventures as well.
And yesterday was just that: an adventure.
My loverly hubby woke up early with the kids, encouraging me to sleep in.
This was nice until I woke up and found that sometime that morning, unbeknownst to me, a tornado had ripped through our living room, leaving toys, socks, panties and food in it's wake.
Oh brother.
He then watched them yet again so I could go to Real Deals.
I selected an amazing clock I'd had my eye on (yes Sierra, that one) with a gift card that Scott had "coincidentally" put the exact right amount on.
Thank you honey.
Upon my return, Scott then sweetly volunteered to take the kids to the movies.
Where the Wild Things Are was playing at McMenamins.
At 3:00. Scott took Ryan with a bag of snacks and drinks to the show.
They didn't return until 7:00!
Come to find out, Ryan only made it through half of the movie (Scott said she couldn't follow the storyline and grew bored) so he took her to Joann's instead?
He thought he would find a craft that Ryan and I could do together once he starts school (awww).
However, once they reached the store, the bathroom was calling.
They filed into the restroom after a man that, and I quote, "crapped a cow."
Apparently the stench was so nauseating that Ryan began to dry heave, then promptly threw up her lunch of pepperoni pizza on Scott's shirt.
Then the combination of vomit and old-man poo was too much for him and he barfed as well.
This he told us after returning home with Ryan and necklace-making materials in tow.
However, before regaling us with his account, he went out the car to find all those craft materials (because Ryan had insisted on holding them and then lost them) only to find his best flashlight burned out.
So defeated, he came upstairs to lie on the couch where he quickly received an elbow to the crotch from a clumsy 3-year-old.
And yet, he remained upbeat, albeit smelly and hurting.
We love you Scotty.
You are a great daddy and husband.

2010

This year is going to be a good one.
I can feel it.
I am excited to watch my family grow.
And to be that much closer to Scott's graduation.
And we are going to have fun.
Yep.
And as for my resolution?
I am determined to drink 8 glasses of water a day.
Not impossible.
Here's to a great new year, my family!
I love you Scott, Ryan and Ezzie.
